Abstract:
Since weak solutions of hyperbolic conservation laws may be nonunique, typically an entropy condition is imposed in order to obtain uniqueness. We discuss how the entropy condition implies regularity and structure ofsolutions of scalar conservation laws. For the one-dimensional system ofisentropic Euler equations we show how the entropy condition givesglobal existence of solutions with natural bounds.
